CMS Made Simple Foundation
CMS Made Simple is supported and maintained by the CMS Made Simple Foundation. The Foundation was incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act in 2018.
Purpose of Corporation
- To ensure free access, in perpetuity, to CMS Made Simple content management software and related software for web designers, developers and other professionals.
- To provide a platform for industry professionals to collaborate and develop their skill sets.
- Such other complementary purposes not inconsistent with these objects.
As CMS Made Simple continues to grow and evolve, we need to ensure that its users have continued access to the software and related projects we support. Team members, supporters, and businesses may come and go, but CMS Made Simple is here to stay.
We (The Dev Team) have been attempting to create a foundation or something similar for at least a decade, but due to our relatively small team it has proven difficult. In 2018 we redoubled our efforts and, with the help of our sponsors, finally managed to make it official. We chose to register in Canada as three of our board members reside there, more than any other country at this time.
As a registered non-profit, we are not a charity but operate along similar lines. Nobody on the board accepts payment in any form for contributions to the core development, marketing, or other services directly related to the promotion of CMS Made Simple. Any money raised under the CMS Made Simple or CMS Made Simple Foundation monikers is used to cover operating expenses and marketing efforts. Note: Board members are still permitted income from ancillary services such as creating third-party modules, direct end user support including Hire-a-Dev, etc.
