New Site Launch
Category:Announcements Sites
Jun 28, 2010 by Ted Kulp
After weeks of blood, sweat and tears, we've finally launched our long awaited redesign. It's taken approximately two months from design to implementation to launch, but we're finally here. Along with our main site, we've also reskinned the forums and wiki to match what will be our new look and feel.
With that, we've also moved from using Wordpress as our blog to our very own CGBlog module. Care was taken to make sure URLs are still backwards compatible and hopefully everything was taken care of, but I know we'll be tweaking that aspect for the next few weeks. The RSS feeds, however, should perform as they did before and no articles should be lost.
I just want to take time and thank Emeka Rajis of Defined Clarity for his awesome design. Keith of Utter, for the logo (which careful eyes will notice we've been using for awhile now). And, of course, Mark Reed of MultiinTech for his awesome html/css prowess in carving this thing up. Last but not least, our own Jeff Bosch for digging in and putting an Wordpress -> CGBlog/CGFeedback import script together very quickly. You guys all seriously rock.
We'll be fixing issues throughout the week, but feel free to leave a comment on anything that seems out of place. We would love to make this transition as foolproof as humanly possible.
Thanks!

Hello Guys,
congratulations for the new design. The layout is very nice and clean. But I found a little problem with the link box at home (features, modules, design ...) are all broken.
Nice layout but not working correcly in Internet Explorer

The positioning of the elements isn't correct in Internet Explorer 7 / 8. It works great in Firefox.
Congrats!

Congratulations with the new design, looks very sharp & professional! Haven't found any big problems yet over here.
Is the new theme open source

I really like the new look and because of that my question; Is the new theme open source and freely useable?!
Great Job... congrats

I was just about to start complaining about Made Simple being lost and abandoned, with not much to happen, etc. The first sign of me being incorrect was 1.7.1, now the layout. Ooooh yeaaah! I was even thinking about switching to Typolight (but I never had time to dig into it like I should) and now I know Made Simple is out there improving and growing. I hope you'll bring more and more into the community and into the system. I'd LOVE to see 2.0 soon ; ) - OK, let's say "by the end of 2010" : )
Unfortunately - a really messed up part - modules - is still messed up : / I'd recommend trying to organize this section somehow.
API Docs

The API docs URL (http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/apidoc/) is no longer active. Has this URL changed? If so is it possible to have the current URL redirect?
button tweek

looks good overall.
one change. The home buttons for support & download. I dont think the navy text works, not enough contrast. I suggest something much lighter. White or maybe the tan from the Background
CMS admin theme

Love the new site! First impressions are so important and this fresh looking site now puts this CMS in direct comparison with some of the other biggies.
Would be fantastic to follow this theme through to the actual CMS admin section and login screen to modernise this too!
nice and fresh

Very good design! Nothing fancy! Everything in its place! Though, I'd like to join Sponsi about re-organizing modules!
Think about it guys!

Kudos to you all ! Looks pretty neat !
Busy

Frankly, I find the redesign very busy. If you took off most of the stuff happening visually and contentwise on the frontpage, I'm betting your conversion rates would be a lot higher. As it stands, the call to action drowns with all the buttons, borders and pictures crammed into it.
Waaau! Good Job!

Hi,
I'm really excited of the new look and congratulations to the excellent work. It's a great inspiration and challenge to my own work with CMS MadeSimple! Thanks! Minik, CzechRep.

Searchbox
On: Jul 5, 2010, Rvdv said:
Looks good! Alot better then the old one.
But there's one thing that should be fixed and thats the searchbox. Place a whitespace between 'Search:' and the input and please make the text white just like the search label :).
Thats all for now, great job!
Not bad

Not bad, I prefer the new layout but don't really like all the different colours in the header, maybe it's just me but there doesn't seem to be a consistent colour scheme.
Love it!

I like it

I'm not really fond of the color choice, but the redesign is far better thant the previous one!
Is there a redesign of the default templates of CMSMS planned?
Busy

I agree with vinz and Berthold. There are too many colors catching attention and the overall site is to busy. However, I'm glad cmsms.org finally looks (sort of :p) professional and like a budding site. :)
